Piloting of A1 language course at Ekonomska šola Murska Sobota, Višja strokovna šola

From March to May 2018 the piloting of A1 language course on the Moodle e-learning platform took place. The participants were full-time and part-time students of the higher vocational college Murska Sobota as well as representatives of the industry. Before the participants started with the testing of the A1 material, they were shown the topics, the types of tasks and the grading system. They were also informed about the purpose of the piloting. Together we solved some of the tasks in different languages so that they could see how the platform works and then try on their own. The majority were solving tasks in English, German and Croatian. Students from the bilingual region solved the tasks in Hungarian and Slovenian. Some of the students tried the material in Czech and Spanish. In addition, one or two students tried Russian and Swedish.

The students' impressions and opinions were very positive as all expressed that the platform was interesting and quite useful. Especially part-time students and representatives of the industry were satisfied with the platform because it allows them to check and improve their knowledge with the feedback of the grading system. Everyone agreed that it is an interesting and useful way to learn a new language. Students and representatives of the industry filled in a questionnaire that will provide additional information and suggestions for improving the e-learning platform. It will also help to correct mistakes or fix technical problems.
