Project Dissemination at SapiTour 2017 Edition

The Faculty of Miercurea Ciuc of the Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania organizes the SapiTour tourism awareness contest for secondary school students. Teams of 2-3 members are expected to take part in the competition, mainly from the county and from nearby regions. This year the competition was held on 28 February 2017, and 18 teams reached the finals.

The primary goal of the competition is for high school students to understand better the concepts of tourist destinations, target countries and target areas. It makes students get acquainted with the latest trends and provides an insight into tourism investment and marketing methods. The secondary goal of the competition is to develop professional relationships between high school students and teachers, university lecturers and students. At the same time we want high school students to find out more about the Tourism engineer - manager specialization, which they can choose as their future university specialization.

The “Unity in Diversity” project was disseminated during the competition. We distributed the project leaflets and found that the secondary school students were very interested in it. Some of them immediately opened their laptops and mobile phones to look for the project web page. We answered their questions about the project and related to the possibility of their language skills and vocabulary development in connection with the topic of tourism and hospitality.

Dissemination at GASTRO 2017

From 22 to 23 February 2017 GASTRO 2017 competition was held in Sibenik, Sibenik-Knin County.  TUSDU and its students participated at this big event.  Project team used this event to disseminate our new project to teachers and principals.

We distributed the project leaflets and answered the questions about the project. We mainly tried to attract attention of language teachers as well because they are directly connected with students through language classes as English, Italian,  German and French teacher.

Dissemination at the AHR conference in Prague

On 21.2.2017 Association of hotels and restaurants organized a conference with follow-up workshop or discussion forum. The conference was about the importance of cooperation between employers and secondary schools for providing trainee-ships for students. Representatives of Ministry of Education, secondary schools, and hotel and restaurant managements gave presentations about the projects and changes in organization of trainee-ship that should support professional education in hospitality industry. They also discussed the skills the trainees should have and practice during their trainee-ship. The skills the employers demand from the students are good language skills. That was a great support for our project and I used the break in the discussion and gave the participants brief information about our project and leaflets as well.
